When Lisa Rinna walks the red carpet or attends a fashion show, there's one thing you can be sure of: she's going to have a whole lotta fun with her look. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is completely fearless when it comes to dressing up for a formal event, relying on wigs and over-the-top outfits to make a statement—and her latest transformation is completely unexpected.

Rinna jetted off to London for The Fashion Awards 2025 alongside her model daughter Amelia Grey, but it was Rinna we were laser-focused on due to her complete transformation. Gone was her signature choppy brunette pixie, which she's worn faithfully since I watched her as Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives in the ‘90s, and in its place, a teased-up platinum blonde wig with tons (and tons and tons) of volume at the root, lifting her hair several inches for skyscraper-worthy height. Rinna’s hair was brushed back from her face and styled straight, giving it a sporty-meets-superhero vibe. Her dark brows were also bleached, adding a high-fashion edge to her black plaid Maximilian Raynor couture ensemble with exaggerated shoulder details.

“Simple" is simply not a word in Lisa Rinna's red carpet vocabulary. At Paris Fashion Week in 2023, she channeled Lord Farquaad or the “Berries and Cream” boy in a curled-under bowl-cut bob, then donned a similar style two years later, again at Paris Fashion Week. We also saw her in a teased-up, fluffy Marilyn Monroe-meets-Madonna wig and a cherry red bob with bangs, all of which she paired with a variety of fabulous outfits, of course.

Rinna is so synonymous with dark hair and brows that it's fun to see her flip the script in such a bold way, like this dramatic, voluminous, teased-up-to-there ice-queen platinum blonde and brows. Basically, the light pulses put those hairs into a resting phase, causing them to shed naturally over time. “Because hair grows in cycles, several sessions are needed for lasting reduction—it’s not instant removal,” says Connecticut-based dermatologist Mona A. Gohara, MD.

Dr. Gohara adds a disclaimer before you start IPL treatments: It can be safe for many skin tones, but not all. “The key factor is melanin—the more pigment in your skin, the greater the risk of burns or discoloration,” she says. “Devices like Braun’s have built-in sensors that adjust light intensity to your tone, but extreme caution is still essential.” Her recommendation? Always patch-test (which, again, the Braun requires), start on the lowest setting, and avoid using devices on tanned or sun-exposed skin.

Treatment length really depends on the plan the app creates for you. If you have sensitive skin or a lower pain tolerance, the app might suggest a gentler flash setting over a longer schedule. If you can handle stronger pulses, the process can wrap up in just a few weeks. Once you set up your profile and select your treatment preferences, the device personalizes a plan tailored to you.

How I use the Braun Skin iExpert Smart IPL

Before my first use, I shaved any existing hair with my favorite Venus Razor and made sure my skin was totally dry, per the pre-use instructions on the app. Since I had already set up my treatment plan, all I had to do was select which treatment area I wanted to start with, and it had my plan set up for me. I chose to start with my underarms during my testing session.

The app tells you what laser head to use for which area (yup, there are four different heads), so just snap the right one on and place the tool on your skin, holding down that flash button and dragging it in the motion the app displays for you. It only took one minute to cover both armpits because the medium head fit perfectly, which shocked me. During the treatment, the app provides real-time feedback to ensure you’re using it correctly, making it especially user-friendly for beginners. Whether you’ve applied the wrong device head, used it for too short a duration, or pressed the device into the skin too hard, the app notifies you and prompts you to make the proper adjustments.

I was a little nervous about doing it myself at first, worried I might miss spots, but the device makes it almost foolproof. It emits rapid flashes—about one every half second—that guide your pace, so you know exactly how fast to move it for even coverage. Each area gets just the right amount of pulses, and with its high power output of six joules/cm, the treatment feels thorough without extra effort. Glide it steadily across your skin, and you can trust it’s hitting everywhere it needs to.

Once you’re done treating all your desired areas (I did armpits, stomach, Brazilian, and lower legs, which took a total of 15 minutes), the app will direct you to repeat the routine weekly for four to 12 weeks, and then you can ease into a maintenance routine of about once every two months. The Brazilian area took a little getting used to—there’s a lot of sensitivity and some tricky spots—but after the first couple of rounds, I felt much more confident.

My Results

I’m eight weeks into my treatments, which means I’ve officially completed the entire protocol—and my results are pretty major. I can tolerate a little more of a zap, so I was able to get through the plan in just eight weeks. By week four, I was already seeing a difference: only a few stray hairs popping up, and even those were growing back at a snail’s pace compared to my old one-day stubble. Normally, I’d have to shave about twice a week. Now, at week eight, I haven’t shaved in two weeks (since week six) and have zero plans to pick up a razor anytime soon. Honestly, I’m thrilled about it.

As for pain, it’s surprisingly minimal. I’ve done in-office laser hair removal before and never went back because, frankly, it hurt. This, though, is way more tolerable. If you hold the device in one spot too long, you’ll definitely feel a quick zap, but the app lets you customize your comfort level with three intensity options—so if you’re sensitive, you can keep it super gentle. After each session, my skin never feels irritated or itchy—just slightly warm for a bit. I do make sure to skip hot showers, baths, or new skin-care products on treated areas for at least 24 hours afterward, just to keep everything calm.

My Final Thoughts

Frankly, the holidays are already in full swing, but I hadn’t come fully to terms with that until one frosty Tuesday morning when I got to shop and play around in Chanel’s Upper West Side boutique before public opening hours. (In other words, a makeup lover’s dream!) The shop itself oozes sophistication. Even if you’re there just to pick up one thing (famous last words), you can’t help but explore every corner of the store to take it all in. For example, I’m not the biggest fragrance lover, but Chanel’s expansive wall displays are enough to make anyone do a double-take and perform a few (or many) sniff tests.

The navy and gold makeup bags I’ve been staring in awe at online look even prettier in person. If Chanel sold the makeup bags as standalones, I’d snap one up in a heartbeat. And don’t even get me started on the dreamy in-store displays. I love a celestial theme; it’s quite synergistic with the holiday spirit, too—there’s just this indescribable magic in the air.

Since I’m quite familiar with Chanel’s offerings, I didn’t need much guidance while shopping. However, there are appointment offerings galore if you’re unsure where to start—whether you’re interested in an in-depth makeup tutorial or a quick olfactory session to find your Chanel fragrance match. The employees were so welcoming that I thought about booking an appointment myself. This time around, I busied myself around the store, shade-matching myself for foundation and picking out new eye shadow palettes to experiment with. After all, there was plenty to explore, and impeccable lighting to boot.

What I’m Adding to Cart

As a makeup girlie through and through, I made a beeline for the makeup section, which takes up pretty much half of the boutique. (A sight for sore eyes!) While I finally splurged on an at-home vanity last year, I’d be over the moon if I could do my makeup at a Chanel store every morning. Not only are there supersize mirrors that seem to touch the ceilings, there are also plenty of beauty stations with everything you need—from concealer to blush to eye shadows—perfectly laid out in front of you. Unsurprisingly, the setup is eons neater and easier to sort through than my own beauty stash. As I began applying foundation—an impossibly silky, skin-softening formula, no less—my mood took off, and I felt like I was totally in my element.

Obviously, I had to take advantage of the early morning shopping trip to freshen up and give myself a whole Chanel look before heading into the office. If you’re curious about what I used, here’s a quick rundown, in order of application:

In my opinion, no Chanel look is truly complete without a spritz of one of the most recognizable scents in the world—a fresh, floral, warm, and soapy scent that I find myself liking more each time I revisit it. In fact, the N°5 Eau de Parfum Purse Spray was my favorite find of the entire morning.

I, like many others, can’t help but adore a miniature—in this case, a 0.2-ounce vial of the signature powdery-floral scent is nestled inside a chic gold casing that can be worn around the wrist, thanks to an accompanying gold chain. Chanel gets it: Just because N°5 is classic doesn’t mean it has to be presented or gifted in the usual bottle year after year.

Overall Thoughts

Visiting the Fragrance & Beauty boutique (FYI: These are separate stores from Chanel’s fashion boutiques!) felt like a playdate—albeit a very high-brow one—and reminded me how fun it is to shop in person and play with textures, sample scents, and swatch to my heart’s content. If you’re a beauty lover who’s based in New York City—or any of the cities in which Chanel Beauty has set up shop—I highly recommend you pay a visit and indulge in some of my favorite luxury beauty products.

There's no one who deserves everything they want more than someone who's just given birth. Being child-free myself, I can't even fathom what it must be like, but I'm quite sure the euphoria of meeting your new baby is matched only by the agony and exhaustion of bringing them into the world. It was only over the weekend that Hudgens humbly shared, “Well…. I did it. Had another baby!!!” alongside a photo of herself in a hospital bed, beaming and holding her husband Cole Tucker's hand. Eagle-eyed observers may notice that the actor was wearing a shimmery, silvery manicure for the special occasion. But come Monday, her favorite manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, shared that the newly minted mom of two has already switched up her nail look.
